| I will point out that the interviewer was Rod Studd & he was looking for a reaction from McDermott about the the refereeeing decisions that clearly went against us.
Typical crap journalism that BM dealt with remarkably graciously considering how he must be feeling.
He didn't fall into the same trap that Cunningham crashed into last week.

It wasn't Bill Arthur it was the annoying Rod Stud trying to be clever.

Depends on your loyalties.
Two awful decisions went against you; the try ruled out for obstruction that never was and the Wigan try after Smith blatantly knocked on.
Had the correct decisions been made you would have won by 12 and deservedly so.
Clearly Mac was annoyed but to take it out on Stud does him no credit whatsoever; he looked like a childish bully trying to pick a fight with an idiot.

That's your view I beg to differ.
In journalism the bullying is inevitably carried out by the interviewer not the interviewee. Badgering people to say something controversial.
I think our guys were remarkably restrained.

He's recently joined Twitter and the other night he was complaining that the commentators on one of the Woman's World Cup matches kept harping on about the referee.
I felt it my duty to point out (politely) that his broadcast colleagues on Sky would never do anything like that.

Pretty good summary. Studd only had to ask a basic question to draw McDermott in, he tends to give good interviews when we win but the eccentric stuff occasionaly rears its head when we lose.
Then again .... a quick google search ....

Watch it again. He has plenty of eye to eye contact particularly when he initially answers the question or refutes attempts to get him to say something he may regret. I think he may be a bit deaf in one ear as he often turns his head after asking for a question to be repeated.

I disagree. Mac did not get drawn in to Studd's attempt to put words in his mouth. When Mac didn't agree with Studd's assertion Studd pursued it by saying "well you've said it to me before", effectively calling him a liar. Mac had every right to respond by saying "I am not sure I have ever said that to you before"
Considering this was just after his team had lost a big game in the last minute with several controversial decisions effecting the result to suggest Mac's response was eccentric is a odd way to view his fair and reasoned summary.
Your quote from 6 years ago from a different club is not relevant to the context of this interview.

| If I was a Wigan fan I'd be worried.
We won that, maybe not on the scoreboard but physiologically. We went to their back yard that is supposedly a fortress and gave them a real good run. Forget the ref and those decisions. WIgan pretty much had a full strength sides whereas we were forced to be without SLs best FB and put SLs best centre to FB. Add in SLs best winger prior to injury, Briscoe, along with a fit Garbutt and we win that home Super 8s game against them by absolute plenty!
