By any chance does anyone know if we are getting a new southstand? There was talks years ago we were but nothing has happened since:/

Not at the moment. Fell through a year or two ago in some wrangle with the council (details not on file in my brain) as I recall.

Fun times back then...

The new south stand has been cancelled until further notice after it was originally announced to replace the abandoned new north stand project. I do believe the new south stand project has now been replaced by a new north stand project, provided loads of fans stump up cash in the buy-a-brick scheme, though it's entirely possible that the new north stand project has also been put on hold or abandoned in it's entirety... again!



Either way, who knows? But it must happen and it MUST HAPPEN NOW or else it must not happen at all and perhaps a new south stand project will be announced again in the near future to replace the new north stand buy-a-brick version.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Southstand project has been put on the back burner now that its fully open following the improvements made. As for the North stand, not sure if we'd need some involvement with YCCC and we know they're penniless.

new South Stand has been put on the back burner due to the financial situation of SL & the club. We're only averaging around 15k a game which means that capacity-wise it isn't needed right now, and it's a hell of a lot of money at a time where the club needs to pinch the pennies. Not only that, but it would drop capacity significantly while the stand was built (because it likely couldn't be done October-February), losing us revenue and potentially needing to take games on the road.



North Stand is equally unlikely given YCCC's current finanances. Once the new broadcasting contract comes up in 2017 Headingley should be able to secure more matches and the finance should be there, so maybe around 2020 the NS will get done.



As for the Western Terrace, doing anything before either the NS or SS would be a complete vanity project. Maybe at some point the TV screen could be moved to the corner between the SS & Carnegie (post-South Stand rebuild), freeing up space on the WT for more standing & making rebuilding with a roof easier. Right now though, not a priority.
