I would not look into friendlies too much to be honest. Wakefield beat Leeds and Leigh beat Wigan. They will have a terrible season now they got beat

All depends what sort of teams you have out really, like Wigan was almost a reserve team but we can say with some certainty that Leeds and Wigan will be near the top of the league and Wakey and Widnes will make the bottom 4.



Im surprised to hear Widnes are looking at Sam Brooks, he didnt look anything special when he was at Fax and struggled to make the team. We probably have about 4 props better than him on our books at the moment.

Rumours on the Whitehaven forum and I think that is all it is to be honest. Not seen him play, but my mate from Whitehaven rated him highly and only 22. I think it would be better to try the Chapelhow twins, which I think Betts will do. Widnes did not take it seriously this friendly and was just a warm up, with some of the top players still not used. A few interchanges in the game and I am realistic with our salary cap. Looks like Salford and Leigh are by the Salary cap, and heard Salford £7 million in debt.



First hit up for some Widnes players and not worth getting injured now. Looking forward to see Bridge, Runciman, Gerrard, Houston and Tickle in the team.

So not really that much talent missing then when you consider theres a good chance that Tickle wont play this season if at all and you already have better than Runciman. As we said at the game if you take Brown out of that team you are basically left with a top 2 or 3 championship side.

Not sure who it is on the Widnes forum who is reading this but I said we had 4 props better than Brooks not 4 forwards. We have about 8 or 9 forwards who I would rate higher than him FWIW.

I cant remember if Sam played against us or not to be honest. Given how dominant our pack was in this league last season that is no surprise though. I do remember he played for us the season before last though and struggled to get in the team.........................

My son Lintle enjoyed the Widnes game, though I myself am not fond of alternative turf, I do like the views from the stands though,Jenn liked the bar facilities and the Social Club,so the Jaggers where happy.

Very surprised, unless Im missing something Sam didnt look to stand out at this level never mind SL. Good luck to the lad but when you see players like Ambler, Cahalane, Tangata, Manning, Fairbank and even Divorty playing at this level you do wonder what he is going to offer to Widnes.
